A broker and a forwarder
Appointed before the order rather than after it. They will want the product, the materials, the carton count and the value, and the quotation carries all four.
### Guide ###
Stuffed toys are classified under HS heading 9503, and a stuffed toy representing an animal usually gets its own line under it. Peru has trade agreements with the European Union, the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan and others, so with a proof of origin most shipments land at a preferential rate. Your broker confirms the exact code and the exact rate.
### Classification ###
Where to start looking
| Product | Chapter | Starts at |
|---|---|---|
| Stuffed alpacaa toy | 95, toys and games | Heading 9503 |
| Alpaca fur rugan article of furskin | 43, furskins | Heading 4303 |
The first six digits are the same everywhere; what follows is your own country's and is what decides the rate. Confirm the full line with your customs broker before you budget from it.
The thing worth knowing in advance is that the rugs and the toys do not travel under the same chapter. A stuffed alpaca is a toy and sits in chapter 95. A fur rug is an article made of furskin and sits in chapter 43, with a different rate and, in some markets, different paperwork. An order with both in it is one order to us and two lines on your entry.
Get this settled before the first shipment rather than at the port. A broker will classify from photographs, a materials breakdown and the commercial invoice, all of which we can put in front of them.
### Duty ###
Which is the single biggest thing in an importer's favour here, and the one most people do not check before they ask for a price.
What an agreement gives you is a preferential rate, and what it asks for in return is proof that the goods really originate in Peru. That proof is a document, its form differs by market, and it is issued on the exporter's side. Tell us which market you are importing into when you ask for the quotation and it is dealt with as part of the paperwork rather than as a surprise.
Two things a preference does not remove. Import VAT or sales tax is charged on the value whatever the duty rate is, and any handling, entry or processing fee your own customs charges stays where it is. A duty rate of zero is not a landed cost of zero.
### Trade terms ###
We quote EXW Lima. The price covers the goods, made, checked and packed, ready at the workshop.
From that point it is your shipment. Your forwarder collects from the workshop, handles the export side, books the freight and clears it at the other end, and you see every one of those costs as its own line rather than folded into a unit price. For a buyer who ships regularly that is the cheapest way to buy, because your own freight rates are almost certainly better than ours.
For a first order it can feel like work. The answer is to appoint a forwarder before you place the order rather than after, give them our address and the carton count from the quotation, and let them tell you what they need. Most of them do this every day.
What we put in the box with it: the packing list, the commercial invoice and the test file. What comes from your forwarder rather than from us: the bill of lading or air waybill. The full terms are published on the ordering page.
### Before you order ###
Appointed before the order rather than after it. They will want the product, the materials, the carton count and the value, and the quotation carries all four.
A toy is tested against the market it is sold in, not the one it is made in. Every code and scope we hold is printed on the compliance page.
50 pieces or $500 an order, whichever you reach first, mixed freely across every collection, colour and size. Ordering and terms.

No, and this catches people out. A stuffed alpaca is a toy and sits in chapter 95. A fur rug is an article of furskin and sits in chapter 43, at a different rate and sometimes with different paperwork. One order from us can be two lines on your customs entry.
