Alpaca fur is available in roughly twenty-two shades and they are not evenly distributed per cycle, so the order below is also a supply order. Availability per colour differs per natural cycle, as nature provides: no animals are bred for specific colours. Point at the i on any colour for what it is, what it costs and how much of it exists. Natural shades
Nine shades and the two tone Macchiato built from two of them. Every colour is one an alpaca grows, held to a meticulous colour standard across thousands of pieces, which is why the light browns are always here and the darkest are not.
Ivory White
The palest fur the herds produce, a shade off pure white with a warm cast in daylight. With the light browns it is the colour we can fill whatever the season.

Sahara
Between Ivory White and Blond, a pale warm cream. It sells well across the light range, and quantity is rarely the constraint on this one.

Blond
Soft wheat, a shade under sandstone. Most buyers use it to break up a shelf of darker browns, and it is available all year.

A warm light brown between Blond and Hazelnut. One of the four shades that come off the herds in real volume.

Hazelnut
Mid brown with a golden cast, the colour most people picture when they picture an alpaca. Supply is steady, though below the light browns.

Caramel
Deeper and redder than hazelnut, and the last of the mid tones we can quote at short notice. Good supply, not unlimited.

Walnut
Dark brown with a red core. Fewer animals carry it, so a large run wants more notice than the lighter shades.

Chocolate
Near black, with a warm brown depth in direct light. One of the two rarest naturals, so quantities are agreed per order.

Cacao
The darkest fur we work with, a cool deep brown just short of black. Genuinely scarce, so confirm the quantity before you plan a season around it.

Macchiato
Two colours on one animal: a white body with mid brown across the back and crown, cut and seamed by hand. Made to order from the light and mid brown stock, so it follows their availability.

Finer, and scarce
Not a colour, a grade. The fur of a young alpaca is finer than the fur of a grown one: shorter, softer and denser. It is real alpaca fur like everything else here, a by-product of herding, and there is not much of it, which is why this line stays small and is priced above the rest.

Ivory
The palest of the three and the one that shows the grade best, because a fine fur reads as light before it reads as soft.

Blond
Warm wheat, and the middle shade of the line. The one most buyers start with.

Hazelnut
Mid brown, and the scarcest of the three: a dark animal in this grade is not a common thing. Confirm the quantity before you plan around it.

Dyed
Real alpaca fur, dyed with natural pigment and kept muted rather than neon. Because these are dyed to order, availability is not a supply question at all.
Cotton Candy
A soft rose, the strongest seller of the line and the one that moves a shelf on its own. Dyed to order, so any quantity is possible.

Baby Blue
A pale sky, dyed on the lightest fur so the colour stays even. Usually bought alongside Cotton Candy as a pair.

Violet
A muted lilac that reads as dyed without shouting about it. Like the rest of the line, made to order in any quantity.

Untrimmed
The coat left exactly as it grew before shearing. More fibre per piece, and nobody else makes it.
Sahara
The palest of the four, a warm cream with the full untrimmed coat, and the most asked for. Available in volume all year.

Blond
Soft wheat with the untrimmed coat, where the length shows most. Built on the fur we always hold, so it is the easiest of the four to order.

Warm light brown, left long. The one that photographs best against a pale shelf.

Mid brown, untrimmed, where the fibre length reads as depth rather than volume. Steady supply, a step below the light shades.

Patterned
Small batches from whatever the season brings. Ask what is in production before you plan around one.
A record, not a range. A limited colour follows what the fur gives that season, so it varies from one production cycle to the next. The five below are colours that have been produced before, and none of them is a guarantee of what will be available for your order.
Snow Leopard
Rust and cream dappled through the fur, and no two pieces marked the same way. Batch made, so the quantity is agreed before anything is cut.

Seashell
Pale grey and cream run together, the lightest colour in the line. Made from the pale end of the sort, which is where the least of it is.

Mountain Wolf
Grey through the crown and shoulders over a rust body, which is the two-tone the highland herds throw most often. Batch made to whatever comes off the sort.

Calico
Dark brown and white in patches, the most broken pattern we make. Every piece is different, and the pattern is the animal's own.

Wolf
Charcoal over a pale belly, the marking that reads as a wolf at arm's length. Two greys on one animal, cut so the line falls at the seam.

One size
A hundred by sixty-five centimetres of natural fur, backed in suede, in the same eight shades the Naturals run in. Three kilos each, and they count toward the same 50 as everything else, so a rug order and a toy order are one order.

The lightest rug in the line, a warm cream that reads as neutral in almost any room. Steady supply all year.
